Tactical strategy game for PC

Tactical Edge: Innate Power is a free strategy game created by an indie developer Guy M. for PC devices. It's a turn-based game that features beautiful retro graphics and styling. It features multiple character classes, enemy types, and its own original story.

Just like with XCOM 2: War of the Chosen or Divinity: Original Sin 2, players will need to strategically plan out their moves to complete each map's various objectives, as well as the enemies that they will encounter along the way. They can also switch sides to experience both stories.

What is Tactical Edge: Innate Power about?

Tactical Edge: Innate Power is essentially a tactical RPG that mixes gameplay elements of role-playing and strategy games into one. In it, previously allied countries have broken off with one another and are now vying for ultimate control and supremacy over one another. This game has no strict path for you to follow. It lets you experience the story as you want since you can play any side you want.

This unique experience also extended to the actual gameplay itself. You get various character classes available to you in the game, each one having its own strengths and weaknesses to take into account during battle. Making them stronger will take a different approach, though. Instead of relying on leveling up, you will need to manage their job promotion and the various items that you'll receive to toughen them up.

In addition to the enemies that you'll face, each map also has various objectives that have conditions that need to be met in order to complete them. One thing that needs more work, though, is the game's steep learning curve. It can be quite difficult to learn all the systems and mechanics that it has in place. There's no tutorial or guide to help new players either.

A nod to classic tactical RPGs

All in all, there is potential in Tactical Edge: Innate Power once its glaring shortcomings are addressed. It looks great, plays well, and its approach to open-ended storytelling and unique leveling system is a nice surprise that provides a different experience. If you're a fan of games like Fire Emblem and the like, give this one a try.
